Where does the name ROAR84 come from?
ROAR = Resurrection Of Alternative Retro
84 = ?
Q:
Why did you pick
84? There were so many great years in the 80's!
A:
The year 1984 was to some, one of the
most defining of the 80's decade. So much was happening in music,
society, and the world around us. Some of the most exciting bands
made their debut that year, and so many others had huge success. A
lot of the music we perform was from 84, and we'll surely be adding more
and more. Just to give you an idea of what musical events happened
in 1984, check this link:

1983 accomplishments) as well as the
1985
Grammys.

Hatful of Hollow - The Smiths

Hey! How you doin'? How about a video of the band?
Cool. We can do that, and in fact...we are. We hope
it's out in the next few weeks. We've got some new stuff
to jam out in 2008. New songs, new scenery, and
more. See you soon!

Special Thanks go to Shujin Tribble for all his excellent
photography of our band in the past year. We've got a lot
of incredible photos, both of the band and of our fans. As
we get time, we'll be posting more of these great shots
throughout our website. Thanks Shujin!

In late December of 2005 the band decided it was time to add
live drums to our performance. The right drummer had been
right under our noses the entire time, as he and his wife had
been coming to as many of our gigs as they could over our two
and a half year history. Top level musicianship was
certainly an important factor in the band's decision. Taz
has brought that, and a whole lot more to the table. His
attention to detail, professionalism and work ethic have enabled
a seamless integration that has lifted our performance to new
and exciting level. Add to that his great sense of humor
and quick wit, and it all adds up to a ROAR84 show that will be
more fun and exciting, both visually and audibly.
ROAR84 would like to wish a warm welcome to TAZ, and
congratulations on all of his hard work, preparation and
successful performance in our first show as the NEW ROAR84.
Please enjoy
the rest of our Website,
and thanks for visiting!

Are you hearing 80's music on
local radio?
Posted February 22, 2006
What radio stations do you listen to locally? For
quite a while now, we've been hearing a lot of great 80's
favorites on a few local shows.
105.1 The River has a couple of 80's
shows. Daily, they have the 80 minutes of 80's during the
lunch hour. You'll hear a pretty wide cross section of
different styles, and definitely more towards the New Wave
hits. They also have a daily "80's at Eight"
show in case you have a working lunch like a lot of us and miss
the early show. Located in Niagara Falls Canada, the
station is definitely more daring in terms of their play
selection, and you'll hear the best choices there with fewer
repeats over several days.
A couple of clicks to the left on the
dial, Star 102.5 also has "The 80's at 8", but in a
much more popular style. You'll still hear the occasional
Depeche Mode hit, but will hear more of the pop side of the 80's
with favorites like Michael Jackson, Prince, Wham, Madonna, and
the like. Star was a big sponsor for our recent show at
Club Infinity with A Flock Of Seagulls. The turnout was
great, and their DJ, Dan R. was even sporting a Depeche Mode
t-shirt. He was thrilled that we jammed out our version of
"Just Can't Get Enough".
Don't know Jack? 92.9 Jack FM has
been throwing all sort of great 80's tracks into their
rotation. This is a good and bad thing, only bad because
they tend to get stuck on songs for a few weeks until they get
around to changing up the rotation again. One of the
notable tracks we hear often is "I Wanna Be A Cowboy"
by Boys Don't Cry. That song was kind of on the obscure
side, but like most one hit wonders, made it into the popular
charts back in the 80's mostly because of its uniqueness.
Jack is quickly becoming a local favorite because of the
variety. Check them out if you haven't already.
If you can't get your 80's fix with
those three choices, there's always Satellite radio. Tobes
listens to SIRIUS, and really likes their Channel 22, First
Wave. You'll hear the full gamut of New Wave artists there, and
aside for a little too much Adam Ant, it's great. They
also have an awesome Big 80's Channel, #8. Everything from
Hall & Oats, to ZZ Top to A-ha. Not as many pure New
Wave hits, and more of the annoying ones you thought you'd
forgotten. Get this in your car and you'll probably have a
sore throat soon, because you'll know the words to all of
them!
What songs
would you like to hear us perform?
ROAR84 is always working on learning new songs, and often
it's tough for us to decide which ones. Feedback from our
fans would really help us out. We prefer to focus on songs
that are danceable. Strangely, a lot of great 80's hits
were awesome to listen to and sing along, but would clear the
dance floor in seconds. Any suggestions?
